Weather is a real part of the decision when you’re considering a move to the Florida Panhandle, and the short version is: warm, sunny, and coastal – with a distinct hurricane season to plan around.

Summers

Expect hot, humid days from June through September, with highs typically in the upper 80s to low 90s. Afternoon thunderstorms are common but usually pass quickly, and Gulf breezes take some of the edge off the humidity near the water.

Winters

Winters are mild by most standards – daytime highs generally in the 60s, with the occasional cold snap. Snow is rare to nonexistent, which is part of the draw for buyers relocating from colder climates.

Hurricane season

Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30, with the highest activity typically in August and September. Most Emerald Coast homes built or renovated in recent years meet modern wind-mitigation codes, and insurance agents here are well versed in coastal coverage.
